Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges

Restore Function and Confidence With Proven Treatments

Restorative dentistry helps repair damaged teeth and replace missing ones to restore full oral function and a natural-looking smile. Common restorative treatments include fillings, crowns, bridges, and implants.

These procedures improve your bite, prevent shifting and misalignment, and boost your appearance and confidence. At Powell Valley Dental, we provide custom dental crowns and bridges designed to blend seamlessly with your smile.

Dental Crowns to Protect and Strengthen Your Teeth

A dental crown is a custom-made cover placed over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, strength, and function. Crowns are ideal for teeth affected by decay, cracks, or fractures that cannot be repaired with a filling. Crowns can be made from porcelain, gold, acrylic resin, or Zirconia. Zirconia-based crowns offer strength and durability with a porcelain outer layer for natural appearance. Steps for crown treatment:

  • Numb the area and remove decay
  • Shape the tooth to fit the crown
  • Take impressions to create a custom crown
  • Place a temporary acrylic crown
  • Replace the temporary with the final crown and cement it into place

This process usually takes two to three visits over a few weeks. With proper care, crowns can last many years and protect your tooth for the long term.

Dental Bridges for Missing Tooth Replacement

A dental bridge is a fixed appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of artificial teeth called pontics, supported by crowns on natural teeth or implants next to the gap. Bridges restore function and appearance while preventing teeth from shifting out of place. Materials used include porcelain, gold, or metal alloys, depending on the location and aesthetic needs. Types of dental bridges:

  • Traditional Fixed Bridge – A crown on each side of the pontic
  • Resin-Bonded Bridge – "Wings" bonded to the back of adjacent teeth, often for front teeth
  • Implant-Supported Bridge – Implants placed in the jaw support the entire bridge
  • Cantilever Bridge – Anchored by a single crown when only one natural tooth is available

Each type of bridge serves a unique purpose, and we will help you choose the one that best meets your clinical needs.
